Singapore Obesity Rate Rising!

In the latest population health survey, where around 3000 Singaporeans were surveyed, it is found that 80 percent of Singaporeans, who are between the age of 18-69 years old are in fact getting enough exercise.

However despite a large number of population is doing physical activity, the local obesity rate has risen from 5.1 per cent to 8.7 per cent.

This is largely due to Singaporeans overestimating their rate of exercise.

Experts believe Singaporeans are taking more calories than they are losing from exercising.

The survey was conducted by MOH and HPB between Nov 2016 to May 2017.

So the bottomline, despite the overestimation, keep doing fun activities which will lead to a better quality of life.
